You wouldn't think it from the news release The company declared its regular quarterly dividend of $0.1375 per common share.

but.....

It is a dividend increase for their regular dividend as you can see at Yahoo.

Not only that, but every autumn since 2007, they've been giving shareholders what appears to be a "special" dividend.

Unfortunately, I'm not a shareholder.

Telus has also made a change to their DRIP program and have taken away the 3% discount they had been offering, from http://about.telus.com/investors/en/inv ... older.html
TELUS will begin open market purchases of TELUS non-voting shares and there will be no discount (previously three per cent) on the purchase price of plan shares.

A bit surprised that this one hasn't been mentioned yet, Magna boosts dividend as profit soars fourfold - The Globe and Mail
Magna will boost its dividend 20 per cent, split its stock two-for-one, repurchase up to four million common shares and undertake a review of the composition of its board of directors.

<snip>

The dividend will rise to 18 cents (U.S.) a share after the stock split.
I must admit I gave up on Magna many years ago when it was being run for Frank's benefit, not the shareholders. Maybe now that things have changed, it might be worthy of another look.

I was thinking along those lines too. Having said that, I have been a very happy shareholder of Genuine Parts (GPC-N) for a few years now and see no compelling reason to switch, but I bet that Magna will become more of a go-to name for Canadian dividend investors.

IPL announced a 6.7% increase in the annual distribution to $0.96/unit (from $0.90/unit).
Energy infrastructure analyst Robert Kwan from RBC Capital Markets wrote this in early October:

"...future dividend increases should continue to keep positive sentiment and high valuations in the sector... the "Yield Theme" could last for a few more quarters..."

"Following Emera’s surprise 15% dividend increase, we expect Enbridge to follow with an 18% increase that could be announced with 2011 guidance in early December 2010. We also believe that Fortis could modestly surprise on the upside (we forecast a 7% increase) with an announcement of an increase possibly by the end of the year (and if not then, in Q1/11). The following are expected to deliver their regular annual dividend increases: ATCO, Canadian Utilities and TransCanada (all likely in Q1/11). Although likely to occur later in 2011, we expect AltaGas and Keyera to announce a dividend increase, with an outside chance that Inter Pipeline will do the same."

Thanks for the continuing updates. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but it would be helpful to also provide a link to a source in the future.

Example:

Ensign Energy Services (ESI) increased its quarterly dividend to $0.095 from $0.0875, representing an increase of 9% .

Sysco has been on my watchlist for a few years, but I am disappointed by the rate at which the dividend growth has decelerated.

Nevertheless, Sysco has increased their dividend 41 years in a row (ever since their IPO in 1970).

Hi,

Re: Sysco

Looking at the business as well as the numbers is important. I think the 4% increase is quite satisfactory, considering what the company does and the current economic climate. Basically, they supply a wide range of eateries ranging from restaurants to company cafeterias to lodging homes. Most of their business is in the U.S. with a minor operations in Canada.

For the average person, the recession is not over. People are still out of work and scared. Restaurant visits and even eating in an institutional cafeteria are discretionary expenditures and not likely to pick up until employment and general confidence among consumers picks up.

It is a testament to Sysco's business model and durability that they raised the dividend at all. When the real recovery takes place (among real people, so to speak), I think we will see greater dividend increases, but now, it is best to restrain expectations.

Disclaimer: I'm a shareholder :)
Cheers

Ag Growth today announced a $0.03 per share increase in its monthly dividend rate. The Company's monthly dividend is now $0.20 per common share or $2.40 per annum. The dividends are eligible dividends for Canadian income tax purposes. The dividend increase of 18% over the previous monthly rate of $0.17 per share is a reflection of the Company's sustained profitability and free cash flow.
