If you hover over the URL button above the text input window, you'll see two formats for inserting links - the first displays the URL itself, the second allows you to enter or paste text you want to display in place of displaying the URL.
Alternatively, if you have copied the URL from its webpage, you can just paste it into the text of the message, provided you ensure that there's a space before and after the pasted URL - and it will sort itself out.
