Report This Post Icon

Post by Arby »

In another thread, FWF Management indicated that the "Report This Post" icon should be used to report an inapproriate post. I wasn't aware of this icon, and it's not obvious to find it unless you happen to place your cursor over the icon. If using subsilver2, the icon is the red exclamation mark inside a box at the bottom right hand corner of a post, or with prosilver it's the red exclamation mark inside a triangle at the top right hand corner.

Members are expected to follow the Forum Rules so that debates and discussions are conducted in civil tones. A few key points.
Forum rules wrote:Financial Wisdom Forum is actively moderated to maintain a civil and welcoming environment, something we have spent some time and years to foster.
If you haven't look at the Forum Rules recently, perhaps now might be a good time to refresh your understanding.
Forum rules wrote: 2. Check your motives. Before you post, ask yourself "Why am I posting this?" What are you trying to accomplish? Argue by addressing the ideas not by attacking the person.

Moderators will intervene to prevent conversations -- we are about conversations -- from turning into personal and/or political feuds and vendettas, and to quash trolling. A post that deliberately attacks a person rather than critiquing the message in the post will be considered over the line. In such case, when posters are asked to back off, not heeding such a call may result in suspension/banning.
The moderators/administrators are only human and cannot be expected to review every message. As Arby notes, that's where the membership can help. We would ask that you please use the "Report this post" button when you see suspected violations of forum rules.

If you are using the prosilver board style, it looks like:

When you mouse over it, it will become

For subsilver2 board style it looks like (it doesn't change when you mouse over it)

When you click the button, it will walk you through the steps necessary to report the post. This reporting mechanism also extends to Private Messages (PMs). They also can be reported if you receive a PM that you suspect is in violation of forum rules. One caveat, Reporting a private message will make its contents visible to all moderators.

Your administrators, moderators and management team appreciate your help in maintaining FWF as a civil and welcoming environment.

You can ignore the previous posts as they apply to older versions of the board software. But rather than starting a new topic, and continuing on from another topic in another forum it is probably worthwhile to provide a general reminder.
Koogie wrote: 04 Jul 2020 11:03 And I wonder how it came to be that drive by political comments are now embraced in the general forums.

And unadmonished by management. I guess as long as they conform to managements views....
ModeratorW wrote: 04 Jul 2020 11:36 Political comments are almost always unwelcome in the Money forums. Whether they are allowed to stay depends on post content and context, whether germane to continuity of the message, and how blatant the comments are. Political comments are occasionally edited out and/or the post is removed. Intent is to be as consistent and unbiased as is reasonably practical within the moderating team.
To further expand, management, Administrator and the moderation team do not necessarily read every post. Members are reminded per rules, specifically rules#reporting,
If you see a post you believe violates applicable laws or one of these board rules, you can inform the moderators and management by using the (Report a Post) button to the right of the objectionable post. Please advise the moderators/management, using one of the Reason selections available in the drop down menu, what you find objectionable about the post you are reporting and ask them to review the problem post.
Reporting a post (or topic) is ALWAYS the best way to draw the attention of our Moderators and/or Administrator.
