Re: Attracting Traffic to FWF
Any thoughts on a quick and dirty fix, keeping the common acronym of FWF in mind and changing the masthead to read "Financial Web Forum"?

Financial Wisdom Forum? ISTM the main benefit of participating, whether actively or passively , in FWF is to acquire the wisdom needed to successfully fulfil our financial goals, especially as DIYers.

That sounds pretty good to me - anything but Webring.
We don't need the word Web - we know it's the web.

There should be a button at the bottom labelled "Switch to full style". Alternate method, to reset the cookie add ?mobile=reset to url.newguy wrote:pps cant get out of mobile style

It must be the cookie. When I was in android I could switch, but when I went to unread or active posts it put me back in mobile. Same thing with trying to post. Whatever, typing on android is a pain.Peculiar_Investor wrote:There should be a button at the bottom labelled "Switch to full style". Possibly many here aren't familiar with WIMPs. From the wiki entry.LadyGeek wrote:Both are taken. Wimps is open.
WIMPs, are hypothetical people serving as one possible solution to the dark mutual fund problem. These people interact through the weak force of the internet, and possibly through other interactions no stronger than the weak force. Because they do not interact through real life they cannot be seen directly, and because they do not interact through mutual fund salesmen they do not interact strongly with MERs. This combination of properties gives WIMPs many of the properties of independent investors, except for being far more massive and therefore slower. They don't interact with normal people, but interact with other WIMPs. When this happens they drink beer. This means they should be able to interact with other beer drinkers.

Re: Attracting Traffic to FWF
Nice thought, but FWF entertains a broader range of topics than Bogleheads does.

A question for the newcomers to the forum, how did you find us? Now that you've found us and registered, what could you suggest we do to attract others like you to the forum?

Re: Attracting Traffic to FWF
I followed a link here from Canadian Money Forum (which I found via links on "Million Dollar Journey" blog). I would suggest submitting interesting threads to bloggers who do a "weekly roundup" of interesting links.

It's hard to attract traffic when you continually get a response of, "This Page can't be displayed".
I would suggest we look for another server.

Does anyone here feel that "FINIKI" seems a tad mis-labelled.

Re: Attracting Traffic to FWF
It is too close to 'finickey' which means "excessively particular or fastidious; difficult to please; fussy. . " It is not a positive description.

Re: Attracting Traffic to FWF
I dunno. Fussiness works for some -- to their advantage. Attention to details and all that (recursive or not).
