Quicken 2016 Web Connect problem with RBC?

Post by Peculiar_Investor »

I'm using Quicken 2016 R6 (Build 25.1.6.2) and for years have downloaded transactions from RBC using their online banking site and RBC's "Download Transactions" functionality. My last download is indicated as September 16, 2017. I have successfully transitioned from using an Intuit ID to using a Quicken ID.

When I tried to download transactions on Monday night, I receive the expected QFX file, but the transactions do not appear in Quicken and there is no visible error message.

I've tried clicking on the downloaded QFX file to have it open in Quicken and again it fails silently.

Checking under Help->Log Files, there is an entry for Connection Log [CONNLOG.TXT] which indicates:

Code: Select all

It appears that Quicken is looking for http://www.royalbank.com/royaldirect/qu ... fotab.html but that link returns a 404 error.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with Quicken 2016 and RBC? Were you able to solve it? What steps were required?

I've tried two different Quicken data files that connect to two different RBC Online Banking accounts with the same result.

On the Quicken support forum another user has posted a solution that I've tried and can confirm it resolved the issue.

Although Quicken 2016 indicated that I was running R6, the solution was to apply Quicken 2016 for Windows Update and Mondo Patch, which was updated 9/25/2017, or right around the time frame when I encountered the problem.

When I applied the update, it was somewhat confusing because it indicated that I was running R3  even though all indications from Quicken 2016 said I was up-to-date at R6.

Thank you for that note. I had to download and install the Mondo update today (to get One Step Update to work), even though my installed Quicken version said R6! When I went to install the Mondo update, the screen said I was actually on R3 as well. Go figure.....! They messed up royally.
