Another double digit increase as Cisco Systems, Inc. - Cisco Reports Second Quarter Earnings
Cisco wrote:Cisco Increases Quarterly Cash Dividend; Stock Repurchase Program Authorization Increased

Cisco has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.33 per common share, a 4-cent increase or up 14% over the previous quarter’s dividend, to be paid on April 25, 2018 to all shareholders of record as of the close of business on April 5, 2018. Future dividends will be subject to Board approval.

Cisco’s board of directors has also approved a $25 billion increase to the authorization of the stock repurchase program. There is no fixed termination date for the repurchase program. The remaining authorized amount for stock repurchases including the additional authorization is approximately $31 billion.

“Q2 was a great quarter with 3% revenue growth and strong margins and cash flow,” said Kelly Kramer, CFO of Cisco. “We continue to make progress as we shift the business toward more software and recurring revenue. Our significant dividend increase and additional share repurchase authorization reinforce our commitment to returning capital to our shareholders and show confidence in the strength of our ongoing cash flows.”
A key driver to the increase in the dividend and buybacks is the repatriation of foreign cash holdings as a result of recent US tax code changes.

The US tax code changes seem to be rewarding shareholders, this time to the tune of a 35% increase, AbbVie Increases Dividend and Announces New Stock Repurchase Program
NORTH CHICAGO, Ill., Feb. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) increased the company's quarterly cash dividend by 35 percent from $0.71 per share to $0.96 per share and authorized a new $10 billion stock repurchase program.

The cash dividend is payable May 15, 2018 to stockholders of record at the close of business on April 13, 2018.

Since the company's inception in 2013, AbbVie has increased its dividend by 140 percent. AbbVie is a member of the S&P Dividend Aristocrats Index, which tracks companies that have annually increased their dividend for at least 25 consecutive years.
That last paragraph is a bit weird, how can a 5 year old company raise their dividends for 25 consecutive years you might ask. ABBV is a spin-off from Abbott Labs (ABT) which was a S&P Dividend Aristocrat, so was grandfathered on the dividend increase history.

The new Nutrien (NTR) increases quarterly div by 27% to .40 USD.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-i ... slug=C2718

P.S. On reading the announcement more carefully, I see it's "a 27% increase from its legacy companies combined payout level". As the holder of shares in the legacy Agrium, I calculate the increase for former Agrium shareholders as being not quite 2%!!

As a former Agrium shareholder, my dividend with the new Nutrien shares will increase by only 1.9%.

The press release was a little ambiguous in it's wording:
"The dividend represents a 27 percent increase from its legacy companies combined payout level. "

Yes, as I noted above in a p.s. moments before you posted!! As a former Agrium, now Nutrien, holder, the 27% announced increase certainly caught my attention. I then checked my records, and did a quick back of the envelope calculation. I too came up with 1.9xxx%!! Must mean an increase in the order of 50+% for former POT owners.
