I don't get it.... CNRL has a pile of debt to retire. Would seem to be better to put it there for a few years first.

Richards Packaging RPI.UN announced an 18% increase to the monthly distribution by 1.65¢ to 11¢ ....thank you very much

http://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/ri ... 83964.html

I calculate the dividend has gone up 67% in the little over 4 years I have held this, not bad for a stock paying out over 5% dividend.

At the risk of prolonging an off-topic tangent, you have your causation backwards … stocks do not tend to rise because of a split … they tend to split because they are rising. There is no evidence to suggest that splits have any effect whatsoever on stock price in the days/weeks/months following the split. The only advantage, as OMO pointed out, is that for those who DRIP, there’d be less leftover cash lying around.

Don't see this listed but I may have missed it being reported.

Coca Cola (NYSE: KO) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.37 per share, or $1.48 annualized. This is a 5.7% increase from the prior dividend of $0.35. This was the company's 55th consecutive annual dividend increase.

The dividend will be payable on April 3, 2017, to stockholders of record on March 15, 2017, with an ex-dividend date of March 13, 2017.

Also SNC paid .273 today up from .26 ?

I'm a longtime Stella Jones shareholder and quickly scanned their Stella-Jones Reports 2016 Fourth Quarter and Annual Results press release and it only states
Stella Jones wrote:QUARTERLY DIVIDEND OF $0.11 PER SHARE

On March 16, 2017, the Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.11 per common share, payable on April 28, 2017 to shareholders of record at the close of business on April 3, 2017.
No mention that this is an increase. Then one minute later they issued a separate press release, Stella-Jones Increases Quarterly Dividend by 10.0%, that Arby quotes, for the details that they've increased the dividend. Strange :?
