I calculate the dividend has gone up 67% in the little over 4 years I have held this, not bad for a stock paying out over 5% dividend.

At the risk of prolonging an off-topic tangent, you have your causation backwards … stocks do not tend to rise because of a split … they tend to split because they are rising. There is no evidence to suggest that splits have any effect whatsoever on stock price in the days/weeks/months following the split. The only advantage, as OMO pointed out, is that for those who DRIP, there’d be less leftover cash lying around.JaydoubleU wrote:there's no logical reason why a stock should tend to rise following a split, and yet it does.

Re: Dividend and distribution hikes (2017)
I'm a longtime Stella Jones shareholder and quickly scanned their Stella-Jones Reports 2016 Fourth Quarter and Annual Results press release and it only states
No mention that this is an increase. Then one minute later they issued a separate press release, Stella-Jones Increases Quarterly Dividend by 10.0%, that Arby quotes, for the details that they've increased the dividend. StrangeStella Jones wrote:QUARTERLY DIVIDEND OF $0.11 PER SHARE
On March 16, 2017, the Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.11 per common share, payable on April 28, 2017 to shareholders of record at the close of business on April 3, 2017.
