The 2009 FWF hedge fund contest
I was looking at this page. But on closer look it seems TIM was deleted from the "Completion" index. So if it's still in the standard TSX, short away then.NormR wrote: TIM is still in the Composite, at least according to globeinvestor.com.

Okay, a quick preliminary run through of the portfolios as corrected.
I have valid portfolios from
pitz
randomwalker
scomac
beluga
Gus
Pickles
bubbalouie
travesty
Inquisitive
ghariton
bindexit
augustabound
Serdic
brad911
kcowan
OptsyEagle
cycle
uhoh
couponstrip
Unfortunately, I missed a problem in my earlier post, so
adrian2 (Bankers Petroleum not TSX Composite)
is invalid.
Some portfolios earlier reported invalid remain invalid:
Mike Schimek (SVC, XMC not TSX Composite)
sayhey (DFE not TSX Composite)
jeebuz (BRK.A not S&P 500)
arnyk(GLN, IDG not TSX Composite)
I'll accept late fixes for these last five (but if the price moves get ridiculous today in whatever replaces the invalid entries, I'll disqualify for fiddling).

Sorry to add to your overhead on this but
I'm a bit confused

Ah! good point, I'll opt out then because 95% of my portfolio is in smallcaps now and smallcaps will be where I'll be spending time, energy and investing my $s for the foreseeable future!Mike Schimek (SVC, XMC not TSX Composite)
Research until your head hurts then scream Banzai!!! and charge fearlessly to victory or death!
Sorry, please replace BNK with OIL (Oilexco) (from the same Sprott top holdings in his Small Cap fund).Norbert Schlenker wrote:Unfortunately, I missed a problem in my earlier post, so

They were both up substantially today but they are the same kettle of fish, IMO.

After much discussion, the judging panel shortlisted the best fund names in this contest to ...
The Crapshoot Cafe Casino Fund
Once Uponzi Time Fund
Security Through Obscurity Fund
Unable to reach consensus, we resorted to picking 1st/2nd/3rd and it was still close. The end result: Security Through Obscurity gets the 1% and there will be consolation prizes of 1/2% for both Once Uponzi Time and Crapshoot Cafe Casino.
I haven't applied those prizes yet because I would ask each contestant to check their own opening positions at
http://libra-investments.com/hf/fwf.html
Report apparent problems in this thread. I'll apply the prizes to the opening prices on Monday, so please check before then.
The quotes used on the page should be automatically retrieved around 6 pm Eastern each weekday and the fund order resorted. With luck, yahoo doesn't change the format of their quote page too drastically all year and the automatic update keeps working without further fiddling.

If one trading day is any indication, you guys are in for a long year . I think this early success sufficiently qualifies me to start a stock-picking investment newsletter.
Great layout NS. It is very easy to read (my name at the top, that is). Thank you for putting this together. But, alas, it appears that your entry is absent?
CS (who is realizing the improbability of ever being on top of the standings at anytime for the rest of the year, let alone over a weekend, and capitilizing on it .)

It's a deal, arnyk, especially as you picked a long that puts you in the bottom third of the table. You're in the contest.
At the suggestion of a (nameless) member, I've modified the code to collect daily returns. Sharpe ratios or some similar evil metric (suggestions welcome) are dimly perceptible on the horizon.
