I can't quote the whole article without violating forum rules, but Carrick is basically recommending an annuity ladder:
To capitalize, consider the same kind of laddering strategy that works well for people buying guaranteed investment certificates.
"I have clients doing this a lot," said insurance adviser Rino Racanelli. "Instead of giving me $300,000 this year, they're going to give me $100,000, then $100,000 next year and $100,000 the year after."

Paywall problem alert.
You can try this for any behind the paywall content. It may work....
- just after the article appears, but before it finishes retrieval, click on stop refresh(eg 'X' on chrome browser)
- Again, it may or may not work depending on when refresh is halted and how robust the underlying code is. For example, I was able to read the article with this method!

A cookie blocker may also work.

The article is also available for free at Pressreader. Just cut and paste into Google a few words from the excerpt posted earlier. This will bring up a page of sites with the article. Most are behind a paywall. Press reader is not.

I can only get it to work sporadically. I think my timing is off clicking on the "x". I'll have to practice more.

Probably depends on the speed of your Internet link as well. If you have a slow connection to the Internet, you would have a longer "window of opportunity" to stop the transmission. Those with superduper high-speed would only have the blink of an eye.

I managed to get in with Firefox and Cookie Controller, denying cookies for G&M.
