Those numbers can't be right. The 1999 quarterly dividend data must be already split-adjusted. I could believe RY's dividend has increased 725% in that time frame, but surely not 2900%.

Edit to add: I'm guessing the figures for RY and BNS were already split-adjusted, but TD's was not (meaning the 1999 unadjusted quarterly dividend was 9.5 cents).

I show $58 quarterly dividend on 200 shares of RY in 1992. No split adjustments. At least two splits since on that line.

That makes a split-adjusted .0725.

Added: 1200%, 10.4% dividend growth compounded in 25 years.

That would mean it's up 12 fold since 1992. Seems much more likely.

In fact I believe you are correct that they were originally split adjusted.
SQRT's confidence that they were not split adjusted threw me.

Let's try again:

1. 760% BNS
2. 725% RY
3. 423% CM
4. 375% BMO
5. 315% TD

To illustrate with an example, presume you bought a modest 100 shares of each in 1999. You would have earned $380 a year in dividends. This year you would earn $1760 a year in dividends from the same original investment.

Here are the raw (split adjusted) numbers:
(example of source: http://www.rbc.com/investorrelations/co ... story.html which split in 2000 and 2006).

1999 quarterly dividend:
CM 0.3
BMO 0.24
BNS 0.1
TD 0.19
RY 0.12

Current quarterly dividend:
CM 1.27
BMO 0.9
BNS 0.76
TD 0.6
RY 0.87

TD still looks wrong. More likely to be 632%.

.19 to 1.20 (split-adjusted).

That should be .095 to .60

No. The quoted time period is starting with the September 99 div which was 19 cents. All 99 divs are quoted at that date.

BNS looks like the sleeper here! Who would have thought that?
Interesting analysis. Thanks.
