Also another Scandinavian series "Borgen" (Danish for government) repeated on TVO. Enjoyed it the first time, no different the second time.

For those interested and near a cinema where this is being played - until November 23rd at Tiff: - http://www.tiff.net/films/human-flow/
Not ''entertaining'' but it will give some folks a better perspective. Also excellent video work and some quite interesting one-on-one interactions with totally unsuspecting individuals. IMHO a ''must see'. If you manage to see it, pass it on.

Hail, Caesar is more than a little patchy, but the scene between the rabbi, priest, minister, and Orthodox priest is hilarious. The rabbi wins hands down.

Canadian production but set entirely in New Delhi, India, I can highly recommend this film.

A Christmas Carol

Jim Carrey version. Only got mediocre reviews from the critics, but not that bad at all.

On Season 4 of Peaky Blinders now. Still a good show. Adrian Brody is the baddy this year. Tom Hardy is back and Aidan Gillen shows up (Littlefinger).

Also, the second series of The Grand Tour. They made a lot of changes from Series One. Feels more like the old Top Gear now. The first episode includes Richard Hammonds crash/fire.

Just started watching Season 2 of Peaky Blinders
This a really good BBC show. Irish actor Cillian Murphy as the main protagonist is excellent. Also good is Aussie Sam Neill as the Ulster Inspector. You may recognize him from Jurassic Park where he was the paleontologist.

Our son got us to do the standard binge watch thing of Manhunt:Unabomber | Netflix . It was somewhat like the Homeland series, gripping enough to make you want to watch the full season all in one session.

My BIL and SIL in the US use the new MoviePass service down there and really like it. A $10 fee per month allows them to see one regular screening per day, every day. It seems to work at most theatres (chain ones).

It isn't here in Canada (yet/ever?) but it looks like there may be a service coming (http://showgo.ca/) Might be something to keep an eye on for those of you who like seeing films in cinemas. Looks like pricing will be 12.95$

Molly's Game is on our list.... but we went to see The Post last night. Really enjoyed the story line and fairly accurate to fact (a few things left out). Streep as usual gave a strong performance.

It came to our attention when Liev Schreiber was interviewed as a nominee for The Golden Globes. I am so glad that Netflix et al let us watch these quality shows. It compensates for the decline of prime time TV. In fact, it has made us more discriminating.

Just watched Darkest Hour which sticks quite close to the facts - except for a fabricated subway [Underground] ride. Churchill depiction quite good. I hope it makes some people understand how difficult what is likely the most important decision of the twentieth century [for Britain to keep fighting after the French collapse and possible loss of the entire BEF] was - neither Halifax nor Chamberlain understood that Hitler was a clinical psychopath who was incapable of respecting treaties, which he thought were for fools.

Without that decision, my first language could have been German.

Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Fantastic movie. First rate acting by Harrelson, McDormand and Rockwell. Well written, good plot with actual twists. Good scenery, well shot.
You'd struggle to find more than one or two things wrong with it whereas most movies nowadays you struggle to find two things right with them.

WIsh there was a dozen more like it instead of all the crap "comedy" and exploding robot movies that they pump out nonstop.

Thanks, I'll have to watch it.

Three Billboards
pretty good, esp. the speech to the priest about collective responsibility,
the tail end was disappointing...
