Who is "they?" FWIW I have my Google Voice number on file for 2FA with both TDDI and Wise. They both work fine for authentication. I've never had an issue with either about using a US number for that purpose.
It was early days and I am pretty sure they did not know what they were doing. My MJ expires in 2025 and the cell phone has replaced it for incoming notices.

Re: TD Direct Investing (was Waterhouse) Service

I initiated a Wise transfer on Sunday from TD via Interac. Supposed to take about 5 minutes. When nothing happened, I initiated a chat and email conversation. Was receiving their emails no problem.

All the trouble shooting produced nothing. The request showed up on Monday morning!

On FATCA, they insisted I remove my MagicJack US phone number from my profile (located in San Diego). I had not been in the US for over 15 years!

As to calculating them, all good brokerages provide them with a few clicks. Some aggregation may be required but it’s simple. Really remarkable how the brokerages have improved in this regard over the past decade despite the griping you often see here. All for $10 , or less, a trade.
Yes! I came across an old spreadsheet from Greenline with stock quotes from Yahoo. The hoops we had to jump through.

But yes it was a lucrative hobby! A combination of value followed by consistent momentum was my selection criteria and quick to dump bad decisions.
