Another year and here we go again. This time my broker is no longer doing business with my current insurance company (Gore Mutual). They are getting me a quote from Intact.
Meanwhile, I'm shopping around. So far, I have quotes for $2349 and $4119 (yikes!). I'm waiting for two more quotes. My premium paid last May was $1583.
This is crazy stuff. I have never made an insurance claim. I can understand why my neighbour doesn't buy home insurance.

Re: CRA - Missing T5 in My Account
Same here. Started the returns, used auto fill and UFile said I was getting a refund even before I put in donations and medical expenses! Then I noticed the missing T slips. Sorry, no refund. I imagine there are some batch jobs that need to be run to load the T slip data into CRA's database. Probably not being run...
I wonder if people have been filling returns with missing data.

Re: Good and/or Underrated Movies and TV shows
I knew that that a Perry Mason remake would be screwed up. You can watch the original series on Pluto: https://pluto.tv/en/live-tv/perry-mason-ca
Just finished watching the final series of Endeavour. They tied up a lot of loose ends from the previous series. There is a documentary to go with the final series; I doubt that I will watch it.
The new series of Unforgotten is good. I was surprised to see it as I thought that they wouldn't be making any more after how the previous series ended.

Re: Power Bank to start car
I have the NOCO boost GB70. I no longer have a battery for my generator - just use the NOCO to start it. When the battery for my tractor dies, I will not replace it - again just use the NOCO. So the NOCO is providing jump start capability and I can reduce the number of batteries I need.
Of course it won't help me if I need to jump start my Lexus hybrid! However, since the hybrid cannot be used jump start a conventional ICE car, again the NOCO will be handy.

Re: Electric Cars
No choice. It's sounds like a bearing running dry and squealing. Walking down the street, when you hear that sound, you know a Toyota/Lexus hybrid is coming.
I have noticed that Tesla vehicles do not make a noise. Maybe it's only the Canadian ones that are silent. Or they are just ignoring the US regs.

Re: Electric Cars
Yes, my Lexus hybrid emits a noise when in EV mode and at low speed. This is a USA requirement and Toyota put it on Canadian cars too. Of course, if you disconnect the speaker, the computer reports a fault. Some people wrap a piece of cloth around the speaker to muffle it.

In JTWROS cases, I think that all the bank and broker needs to see is the death certificate.

Bought my wife a new phone; a Nokia phone with buttons. She hated dialling with the touch screen. I had to cut the SIM card down; the second time that this card has been cut down. Easy peasy.

Home Hardware to the rescue! I got into the shower and found that the water was only lukewarm. It was a very quick shower. Checked the water heater and found that the top element was burned out. I needed a 240V, 4500W element with a square base. It seems that most of the new water heaters now have screw in elements and the square base ones can be hard to find. Home Depot has square base elements, but only in 3000W. They sell adaptors so you can use a screw in element with a tank that uses the square base, but the local store doesn't have them in stock. Called a major plumbing supplier. They have 4500W screw in elements, but they don't have the adaptors - they had never heard of them. They suggested that I buy a new tank. I was beginn...

The last time this happened, I mailed some expired notes to the Bank of England and asked them to give them to a worthy charity. A few weeks later I got a cheque in the mail.

Friend is buying a new RAV4. Dealer said wait is 4 months. However, he could have the one on the lot for an extra $3,000. No thanks, he's not paying extra for a demonstrator! They called him a couple of weeks later - one had arrived and buyer had changed their mind. Same thing - he could have it for an extra $3K. He's still waiting.

Gas tax pays for a lot more than roadway maintenance. Transit subsidies is the most obvious one. If the gas tax was only for road maintenance, gas would be a heck of a lot cheaper.
Of course, the bicycle enthusiasts say that even with the gas tax, cars are still subsidised by the taxpayer. I don't mind.

Here on Vancouver Island, where we pay some of the highest prices for fuel in North America, EVs are becoming commonplace. Competition for a charging stations is increasing. The amount of electricity consumed to charge vehicles is increasing. It's about time that the user pays and at least one city is starting to do that.

I like the security features with the Brim cards. Do other cards have the ability to block online and foreign transactions? Those fraudulent charges on my HT Visa originated in Ireland.

HT Visa.
This AM went online to get statement and found out my account is suspended. Turns out there was suspicious activity; some small Etsy purchases. So, they are sending me a new card. This is not the first time that my HT Visa has been compromised. Last time it was Door Dash charges. Before that; Amazon Prime (US). I'm getting fed up with HT Visa. Must be a favourite with the crooks.
Going to start looking for something else.
