Do you have an ad-blocker maybe?
No, I don't have any add-ons or plug-ins. These types of problems for me are both typical and intermittent. Likely the statements will mysteriously show up tomorrow or the next day.

Re: TDDI - New WebBroker interface

It's nice that the December 2017 statements are ready. Four of them are found. It's too bad none of them show up so they can be downloaded. Oh well, better luck next time.

Re: TD Direct Investing (was Waterhouse) Service

Well, TD has acquired AI company Layer 6, so everything should continue to be great. It's pretty surreal reading that PR syrup in the backdrop of WebBroker/EasyWeb realities (not only recent).

Re: Bonds - Rolling Down The Yield Curve, theory vs real-life experience

I believe the "rolling down" benefit assumes the yield when you sell the bond is less than when you bought it, for a simple example if the yield curve is normal (not inverted) and static (doesn't change). But if interest rates are rising, as they may (or may not) from here, this would reduce or even...

Re: 2017 ETF re-invested distributions

A question that comes to mind: since this reinvested distribution got distributed on January 4, 2018, would this amount be used to adjust the cost basis of your XIC shares not for this year's tax return (2017), but next year's tax return (2018)? As in, the ACB for the 2017 tax return would be whate...

Re: TDDI - New WebBroker interface

It's badly broken this morning. First, when logging in the default page had been switched from Activity to Balances. Then trying to go to Activity, the page half loads, then there's an "Internal Error" message, then it switches to a page saying they work every day to keep WebBroker running at peak e...

Re: 2017 ETF re-invested distributions

The thing is, though, even for the phantom distributions they give a "payable date" of Jan 4, 2018 (in the case of iShares). It's a good question, I don't really know what this means. ISTR that at the brokers the distributions are reported with this date attached. But at the end of the day you're ge...

I was able to log in shortly before 2pm ET. Site seemed "as usual", i.e., "hit and miss", e.g., re-load Activity page to see activity.

Thanks for the correction/clarification. That's why I leave the heavy lifting to Norbert and NormR  You're welcome, and thanks for the FT link as it's nice to have that index value sooner than it appears on GlobeInvestor. It's great that Norbert and NormR track "everything", for total returns...

Re: How Did You Do in 2017?

I suspect very strongly the FT value is 29 Dec 2016 to 29 Dec 2017. So it
is including 30 Dec 2016 movement, which shouldn't be part of the 2017
return. Using the FT value of 54,002.68 for 29 Dec 2017 I get the exact
2017 return to be 9.095 %.

Re: Outstanding Financial Pornography

Well, if they sold today (the 29th) it settles in 2018 so that's when the capital gain is taxable. That said, the term "year-end profit taking" is kind of loose, does it mean taking the tax hit for 2017 or does it mean taking the price available in 2017 ?

One good item to begin researching these questions with is CRA's bulletin IT459 Adventure or concern in the nature of trade . Searching for some of the terms above may lead you to previous discussions on the forum. Here is a Tim Cestnick article: Frequent stock trades may complicate tax filing - The...

Re: How do I calculate my performance across all accounts?

However, I wonder if there is a way to get the performance across all accounts, given performances of individual accounts. I guess not. :( I think you're right that there's no "holy grail" of this kind. For example consider your preferred method of time-weighted return. For it in general, the overa...

Re: TD Direct Investing (was Waterhouse) Service

Excellent news. ig17, what does "security's last traded price" (in practical terms for the transfer) mean? They don't explain it. My guess: They will pull a real-time quote when you pick the security to transfer, if the markets are open. It may take you a few minutes to verify all the details and c...

That would be incredibly annoying. What would be the point of having a multi-tasking computer if they were going to essentially confine you to stay in one application?

FWIW I just tried to reproduce what happened to you, but things worked normally.

Is the CIB483 yield after or before MER?
Published yields for MMFs are after MER. The rates I gave were quotes obtained from TDDI. I can confirm that what I received for November on CIB483 was consistent with about 1.3% / year.

I'm not a G&M subscriber, but am able to access the article in full with the lynx browser (text-based). This is the link I followed to the article. I'm not sure but perhaps it could have to do with cookies? Lynx doesn't save cookies from one session to the next, so going to G&M with it "fresh" maybe...

Re: Where to park USD cash?

As I see it, the main "catch" with TDB166 is that it's a mutual fund, not a deposit account like TDB8152. Note that the latter "trades" on the mutual fund system, but this is just a work-around for convenience so that brokers can deal with them, it really is a deposit with TD. This means you can put...
