Re: Loblaw Card Program

I wouldn't give out my sin number for something like that. I'm not even too keen on birthdate. Slightly bogus one might do. I wonder if the other companies will get taken to the woodshed too since they seem to have all been in one it.....cheers

Re: Bought U.S. stock through CAD TFSA at TDDI

Just wondering out loud, would a canadian based mutual fun holding foreign stocks at this point still have the dividend withholding tax. I thought the braintrust here might keep me from going down the rabbit hole of various others sites.....cool thanks

Beside's when was the last time the Premier backed a winning horse? Given a coin toss I'd lean to the business winning rather than the gov't, they win battles but go back to sleep and business carries on. I don't hold QSR, willing to bet this is forgotten in a couple moments, hours, days at most.

oy vey. Average is pretty dumb by times. Try for a bag of milk, they a real business. Most cities still have a coin dealer downtown somewhere but not worth the gas to arrive perhaps. I think were a little late for a kid's stocking. Hang on to it for 50 1/2 weeks maybe....cheers

I always though the 1949 Dollar with the ship Matthew(?)was one of the nicest looking, not too bad either although mine was dad's. The 5cent series one of the most interesting and was affordable as a kid.

I feel confident giving out sub five dollar advice. You could spend it on candy or coffee too eh. Perhaps even donate it to the government via somesort of lottery ticket?

Like this? You are good to go, to save time try to get an older teller :) I had fun with a one dollar bill at the grocery a few years ago, the youngish clerk had a semi tough time dealing with it. Wasn't in particularly good shape to keep so back into the wild with it. In other news I got a silver q...

Re: Strategy and Performance Tracking

Strategy labs wrap up. I did a quit rough data grab from the globe funds quote for 5 year chart results of sp500 total return end of oct 2012 to 2017 21.19% so 50k would become $129.3. The imperfect Canadian index for same period was 8.41% 50k becomes $81.1. Mawer Cdn fund would have been 13.59% for...

Really really off topic but wanted to say how sloppy the Financial Post is. The story linked above for art has a photo that is almost 4000x6000 pixels and comes in at over 7 megs. Crazy. We used to get files out at under 100k. :) Rant off. :)

So where do you go to buy a shirt now that's better than Walmart and less pricey than say Columbia? There's lots of noise and flashing signs but not so much in...

UBS has a section of it's web site where they have text and video interviews with some top notch people. Usually more of a broad nature. Mawer, mutual fund managers, had a story on this sort of thing in their insights. They had some German nuclear plants and then came the political side of Fukushima. I just saw I've been here 10 years and few days. Missed the rollover, kinda like the car a 100,000 someone pulls a stunt in front of you and you miss it. Learned a lot and it doesn't feel like ten years. In hindsight was a good time to commiserate given how things unraveled for a while.
