Re: How to download data?

Spreadsheet seems to be working ok except how do request a reload of new/current info? On Gummies spreadsheet there was a button to click on must be something easy? Easiest way is just to change a cell. Doesn't have to be part of the data. That will force a reload. Yeah I found that out but now ano...

Re: How to download data?

I have quotes downloading now. In the sample worksheet there are spaces between some rows I would like to get rid of the spaces. Is it a simple fix to get rid of the spaces? How do I do it? For example row 8 is blank when I paste ticker symbols into it I want NA info in that row. NA NA -- -- -- -- -...

I don't know much (very little?) about GE's specifics, but I'd want to see 2-4 quarters of improved cash flow, improved balance sheet and the sale of some business lines before dipping a toe in the water. Turnaround stories often take a few years before they show momentum. Not sure why you would po...

Re: Borrowing on margin

Yeah it was just a counter intuitive statement. What it meant is that they owned a great deal of income producing property and it cash flowed. Yeah I get what was meant still wouldn't be something I'd aspire to. Maybe having revenue property generating a positive cash flow of a few $100,000 a year ...

Even if you did have enough non-registered money; what will your "level of margin" be after a 30% stock market decline. After you are done with that, check out a 50% decline and think about how well you will sleep at night. Be the same as a 30 or 50% decline in Real estate values. No it won't. You ...

So if brokerages have to settle securities in 2 days and bond transactions in one day why are banks allowed to hold funds for 7 days. It's about time this is moved to two days or less when funds are released especially for meaningless amounts in relation to other holdings at the same institution. :t...

If you use multiple institutions for GIC investments all CDIC insured you lose 2/3 of your possible coverage upon one spouse's death!

I don't know. When I added bonds to my portfolio, people were having the same worries about tax efficiency, interest rates, and the unpredictability of bond funds/ETFs. Yet, since January 2014, when I added it, VAB has provided an annualized 3.9% total return. Not bad for such a "worrisome investme...

Why wouldn't you just sell it take the loss, give her the money to put in her TFSA and if she really thinks CPG is now a good stock she could buy it.
