Re: The Mental Mistakes We Make With Retirement Spending

Our travel budget is a lot (order of magnitude) higher than this. Generally, first class and this is very expensive. The only time we've spent in first class is when we've wandered through to our seats in the back of the Sardine can. We don't even pay for seat assignment wife says she doesn't care ...

Re: The Mental Mistakes We Make With Retirement Spending

As in the example in the article, I recently shocked everyone by stumping up the money for biz class on our trip to Europe for instance. Not 5 years ago I would have gone as cargo... :o) Our travel agent found us a deal with BA that got us flat beds to Europe for $2700 each return. We get to Amster...

Re: Joint Investment Account with spouse? Any reason to do this?

I'm still trying to decide whether to it will be something like XIC/VCN or 20 different Canadian dividend paying stocks (RY, ENB, L, etc. etc.). I keep going back and forth between the options. The cash just keeps piling up as I ponder what decision to make  OT - If you have to rebalance which...

I'd buy a Home Trust GIC if indeed HT also moves up to those rates. When you buy a GIC from Oaken I thought you were with Home Trust? On the Oaken website Each deposit is available through either Home Bank or Home Trust Company, both of which are separate members of CDIC. Separate website for Home ...

She spoke with The American College on these matters in an interview from 2012. I will summarize her key points here. He didn't write it and doesn't say if he agrees or not. I found it a very generalized article which could be countered many ways by individual circumstances or desired outcomes hard...

IMHO almost equally important is you have someone in place as an advocate for health care before death. A spouse who has to handle the grief of someone being sick or incapacitated may need help to maintain finances as well not only in death. The bad part you may be just lucid enough to see financial...

Am I getting close? Yes. Keep in mind there's a different amount for the provincial credit, too. Well I see that option but on daughter's 2015 carry forward from Ufile there is only one box with $10,500 in it Provincial box is empty and on Daughters Notice of Assessment it says she has unuse...

Re: Claiming educational expenses of a student.

This should be an easy question. My daughter has a $10500 Tuition carry forward from 2015. She made about $40,000 last year so she has to use the whole $10,500 for 2016? If some of the carry forward reduced her tax to zero then the remainder could have been carried forward to 2017? Am I getting clos...

Re: CPP Deferral debate - Fred Vettese article discussion

I guess a rather obvious thing about delaying CPP & OAS at anytime within the CPP & OAS rules you can change your mind. If you decide to draw it down sooner than the latest time possible maybe no harm. Lots of investment decisions don't seem to have this option.

He wasn't going to renew if that new clause wasn't ticked and initialed. If no one renews it went to a month to month before you signed the new clause, you didn't want month to month? My experience on the front lines and in talking to former colleagues is that there is a lot of pressure for sales quotas on tellers.
I don't get much any hassle from Tellers, mostly from small Branch managers and one level below.
