Re: Studio Tax

Anyone know how to just print the "summary" in studio tax? open the return, choose print (it displays a reminder) NEXT, you get the 'print wizard' (a bunch of print options) at the bottom is a choice for individual forms which gets you a panel with the individual forms, select the form you want, cl...

Before these changes you were able to : 1) omit the Watercooler from your view 2) just not open any thread 3) ignore posters so what was achieved with these changes ? Somebody missed the part of " If it ain't broke don't fix it" My post was not intended as a complaint, merely an observation. Before...

Re: Philosophy of dividend investing?

Regarding waiting lists, I know a handful of people who had heart surgery 'almost immediately'. One guy went for his annual on Friday and was never let out of the hospital, had bypass surgery on Monday. (A few years ago). I believe we are victims of 'superhyped' media hype. I am not suggesting you b...

Re: Philosophy of dividend investing?

My withdrawal metric is pretty simple. The minimum RRIF withdrawal plus about 10000 annually. Some goes to Ottawa, cash goes into a non-reg acct, and some is withdrawn in kind into an investment acct. For the in-kind I try to get the stock which is at the high end of valuation to reduce the potenti...

Not that I am fussed about it, BUT, I just made two consecutive posts in TFSA 2015 and the post count did not increase, both are 1797.

Re: TFSA 2015

In 2013 there were just under 8 million (out of 26 mil) individuals with income between 50,000 and 75,000 in Canada. So, 2/3 earned less. What makes you think that they have 5,500 left over to contribute to TFSA much less 10 grand. Oh, I guess they can just cut back on their kids food and clothing. ...

The info re last poster and date/time in the top left of a post is incorrect.

e.g. the snow tire thread shows 'springbok' and a time 11:?? am , there have been several posts since then

Re: Any questions about CPP?

I am not disputing what you say. My wife is 2 years younger than I.We opted to receive CPP when we turned 60. I am entitled to get the full amount less the age reduction. Hers was ca 140 $. When she turned 60 and we applied for splitting , I 'gave' her 50% of mine and she 'gave me' 50% of hers. So w...

Re: Any questions about CPP?

The two amounts get summed and divided by two. What I don't know is what happens when one of the two dies. Does the survivor continue with the split amount or revert to his/her entitlement.

Good for the missus and you Wallace.
On your above comment I would only add that any photos of Cosby in the media are extremely uncomplimentary and biased.

Re: GLOBE AND MAIL WATCHLIST

I think Watchlist uses a cookie to store your list of stocks. If you cleared the cookies, then your watchlist may be gone. The "My Portfolio" feature is similar to Watchlist, but it doesn't use cookies. You need to register for My Portfolio, but it's free. I think you need the 'UNLIMITED Edition' t...

Re: Guaranteed annual income

In my very limited understanding, minimum income, social assistance, and minimum wage are three very different things. The minimum income model makes sense to me. The amount of tax and social program reform needed to make it work suggests that I won't be seeing it in my lifetime. Such a program wou...

Re: Guaranteed annual income

There are a number of good things to say about the notion. IIRC, the main knock against it comes down to cost. But that depends on how the cost is calculated. It is a lot simpler to calculate the $ cost of providing the money than it is to provide a benefit number. It will require a great deal of p...
