AltaRed:

I don't know if I'd call a P/E of 16.4 vs. 18.1 a minor difference. Thanks, I'll keep this in mind.

Re: Stock/Bond/Index/Fundamental/Asset Class/Quotes - Sources

Thanks for that. So I take it this is a fairly common problem? What about if I log onto brokerage websites, such as TD, BMOIL, CIBC Investor's Edge? Are those usually accurate? Seems like a glaring problem in an industry that should have precise data.

Finding PE ratios for Canadian companies

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I'm looking at Globeinvestor's portfolio numbers, and at least one number is different from that on tmxmoney.com . NFI (New Flyer Industries) is currently listed on Globeinvestor as having a P/E of 18.1 . Tmxmoney.com shows a value of 17. Should I assume Tm...

Any particular reason why Laurentian is so cheap? Are they overexposed to the housing market or something?

Re: Why I Don't Invest In REITs

EDIT: Whoah, wait. I think these may have been projected numbers. The Disnat site is kind of confusing on that. Probably better to disregard what I wrote below. TheGipper/anyone else interested: The page AltaRed linked shows 2017 FFO as: US$0.98 . and AFFO as: US$0.91 . This should help people calcu...

TheGipper:

Did you actually find a Price/FFO ratio somewhere for WPT? I couldn't find one, and haven't gotten around to calculating the true ratio. Of course, most websites just try to calculate P/E which is way off for REITs.

Then I can confidently say they are cheaping out on IT staff and/or planning. All major IT projects have a large planning phase, in which needs expectations are specified, and plenty of room for growth should be allocated. Clearly, the bank-owned brokerages failed to do this. The Globe and Mail Satu...

Wow! Just got a MyLink message this afternoon. This was a reply to complaint I sent about waiting more than 2 hours on hold on Dec. 27th! So, even if you subtract a a few days to account for the holidays, it still took someone 10 days to reply to my My Message. And the best part? They didn't really ...

Re: Why I Don't Invest In REITs

Anyone know why WPT Industrial REIT (WIR.U) has such an uneven earnings record? It's just all over the place. I'm not necessarily saying that's bad, but is there an explanation? Recent merger/acquisition?

I too, invest in REITs.

Re: TD Direct Investing (was Waterhouse) Service

I got the same message when logging on just moments ago. Between this, and getting my DRIP payments for ETFs as late as the 12th day of the month, login problems, and reduced staff competency, I'm getting more than little fed up with Mr(s) TD. If I have time, I might research other brokers this year.

PSA: BMO Investorline is spotty at best tonight

I don't know if they're doing maintenance or what, but I could not log on last night. Tonight, I managed to log on, then got logged off again. Then I logged on again and sold a mutual fund. I think. I clicked on another link and got taken to an error message and was then consequently logged off agai...

Bought 313 shares of TD.PF.C @ 22.95. This is a rate-reset preferred. My yield-on-cost will be about 4%. I believe Mr. (US) Market is overheating now and may experience a bit of a pullback in the near- to mid-term. This may eventually lead lead to a mild flight to safety. Of course, there's the poss...

Interesting stories...thanks for those. I would not consider my story a horror story. That being said, I just find it very disheartening how our government seems to regularly mess things up.

WTH CRA? You're so incompetent lately

Just a rant: For years, I had hardly any problems dealing with CRA. The last few months, not so much. It took 7 months to process my personal (simple) tax return this year. Next up: I called CRA on behalf of my Mom, because she was denied tax deduction credit for property tax payments. We hadn't pro...

Thanks for that article, milton. A nice find. When I see how many corners corporations are cutting to be able to juice quarterly numbers, I feel that the current rally, can't go on much longer. Also, I think a lot of the pos. news (Trump's tax cuts) are already at least largely baked into stock pric...

Hi AltaRed:

Interesting. It currently shows as having a P/E (TTM) of about 15.7. That's lower than most of the broader market nowadays. Are you going more by the Forward P/E or would you wait either way?

Re: New Flyer Industries (Symbol - NFI.TO)

For anyone still reading, I sent an email to Jon Kofman, Investor Relations contact at New Flyer. From my reading, the important points in his email were that: 90% of New Flyer's customer base for new buses is in the US. The other 10% Canadian. They have 2 coach manufacturing facilities in Canada an...
